NSKFDC Workshop
Arogya Gramin Healthcare Foundation, in collaboration with National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC) and the Furniture and Fittings Sector Skill Council (FFSC), conducted a one-day workshop in Manipur, specifically for sewer and septic tank workers, on the "Prevention of Hazardous Cleaning of Sewers and Septic Tanks.
"The workshop addressed critical topics, including the prevalence of manual scavenging and hazardous cleaning in India, legal provisions for the welfare of manual scavengers, punishments under the MS Act 2013, and regulations for hazardous cleaning. Participants learned about the NAMASTE Scheme, safety precautions, hazards of sewer and septic tank cleaning, and the importance of using protective gear, safety devices, and advanced cleaning machines.
The workshop provided insights into schemes designed specifically for Safaimitras, empowering them to safeguard their health, improve their work conditions, and access better livelihood opportunities. This initiative reflects our commitment to fostering awareness, enhancing safety standards, and improving the welfare of sewer and septic tank workers, ensuring they are better equipped to perform their roles with dignity and safety.
